The Scottish Government (SG) provides coordination and leadership of the SIMPATHY project. SG has fully devolved authority and responsibility for healthcare in Scotland. It has promoted innovation in healthcare and its leading position in addressing the issue of appropriate polypharmacy and adherence is recognised by the European Innovation Partnership for Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) 3* reference status. SG is responsible for producing the national policy for appropriate polypharmacy management implementation via regional health boards and does this through chief executives who are accountable to SG for delivery. National therapeutics work is developed in SG in partnership with healthcare professionals in health boards. SG is also responsible for contract negotiations across all health and social care professionals in Scotland.
